  • This photo and the next eagle photos were all taken on an elk killed by the blacktail pack. The kill was off the wraith pull out in YNP. The distance was quite far, not sure, but I believe it was probably on the order of 3 to 400 yards. As of result of distance alight and movement the following photos are only of fair to good quality. <br />

If you look clsoely the Bald Eagle is comming in on a Golden Eagle, already on the kill.
  • Teh Bald Eagle continues on a landing approach.
  • The Bald Eagle gets closer and the Gold is starting to react.

  • Golden dosen't want company, and dosen't appear to be intimidated.
  • The objection appears to be getting physical.
  • In this photos, you can see the Bald Eagle has landed, but it gives way to the Golden. Size does matter.
  • Bald Eagle flying into the kill. This is after the Golden has left.
  • Just about ready to touchdown.
  • On the Kill
  • After leaving for a while teh Bald Eagle comes back with company.
  • Two comming in for a landing at once.
  • Untitled photo
  • One lands and one leaves.
  • These next few shots are really unusual. The coyote has come to the kill after the wolves moved off. AS he starts to eat a pair of golden eagles come in.
  • The golden has taken over and keeps the coyote from the kill.
  • Untitled photo
  • This is the first of 3 photos taken at very long range and poor light that depict a very interesting behavior. In this photo a coyote has snuck up on a sleeping pair of mating Grizzlies. She bites the female on the butt. As she/he has a den in the area I believe she was trying to get the bears ot move?? The photos are taken across the road from the turn off to the petrified tree shoooting down into the steep valley.
  • In this photo the female has awoken and the coyote is getting out of dodge as fast as he can. Note that all four feet are in the air.
