Brown Bear (Grizzly)

The photos in this gallery were taken in Yellowstone, Grand Teton, southern Montana and Alaska. In Alaska the browns were shot in Katmi, Denalli and in the Chugach National Forest in the Skilak Reserve.

  • This large boar was photographed on a dead elk near the Grizzly lake trail head (YNP). This was the second day we watched this location. We were told by several folks that the elk was hit by a car. The previous day we we watched two wolves and a young griz at this same location. It was interesting in that the wolves chased the young sow off the elk, There was no repeat performance with this old guy. The wolves lead off our wolf folder and the young sow can be seen later in this folder.

  • He may be old, but is still a power to be considered. I believe this is the bear that the rangers call quill. He once had a run in with a porcupine.

  • This youn Griz was photographed near Undine falls in YNP. He was eaded toward the Lava Creek picnic area.
