Black Bear
The photos in this gallery were taken in Yellowstone, Grand Teton, southern Montana and Redoubt Bay Alaska. Yes that's where the volcano is making noise. It wasn't when we were there. This gallery is composed of the american black bear. Unlike the brown bear the black bear can still be found in most states. The brown which once could be found coast to coast is now only seen in Alaska, Idaho, Wyoming and Montanna and only a portion of the three in the lower 48. If you look at the California flag you will see a Grizzly prominently displayed, but it's been a long time since any roamed wild in that state.

This photo was taken at a great distance, Something spooked this family and made them run up a tree. What suprised us is that mom was the first one up. The babies did climb higher as you can see in the next photo. By the way this photo would not be suitable for reproduction, unless you wanted it knowing the quality is miminal. not super bad, but not super good either.
