Chacma Baboon

The chacma baboon is native to southern Africa and ranges widely through this area. They are an omnivorous animal that weighs up to 60 pounds for males and 45 for females. They range in troops of up to 50 with a single or multiple dominant male, depending on troop size. They are capable of killing small antelope as well as hares and snakes. They can also be a pest in camps as they have learned how to get over the fences in many of the Kruger rest camps. So if you have an outside refigerator, make sure that it is secured at night. Just closing it is insufficient.
