irishbob > This photo was taken in the Sabie river just off the restaruant at the lower sabie rest area. Note that a croc shares the same small sand bar with the hippo. Also the oxpecker cleaning the hippo. You will see this small insectivore on animals from hippo to graffe to elephants and virtually all of the antelope. If disturbed they will useually only move to the animals other side.

irishbob > If you look closely in this photo you will see a new born at the rear of Mom. You can also see a croc on the rocks behind her. While a large hippo has no need to fear a croc, they will take a baby if it wanders away from Mom.
