This gallery contains a series of photos of a rather unusual event, a duiker seeing, smelling and surviving an encounter with a rock python. Our guide estimated that the snake was at least 5 meters (16 to 17 feet) long. Sherry noticed the duiker in the brush about 20 or 30 meters off the road just staring at the ground. The story unfolds from there. This was, as you would expect, a first for us, but it was also a first for our guide who spends a lot of time in the park.
